SVOffice 2009 Features: Tutor Sidebar

November 23, 2009

One of the most common questions we get from new users is, How do I create a model? It can be challenging for someone unfamilar with computer modelling to know where to start. Fortunately, we provide a lot of resources to help users get started, including:

  • Interactive help (within the software)
  • Online documentation
  • Tutorials (found in the software manuals)
  • Animated tutorials (on the website)
  • Sample models (downloaded via SVOffice)
  • Online model gallery

The latest release of SVOffice 2009 adds a new on-screen sidebar to the modeling window. With this sidebar, the user can now see a complete overview of the modeling process from start to finish. (This same overview is also available in our user manuals.) Each topic contains links to provide additional information and, where appropriate, direct links to the dialog responsible for settings related to that topic.

To enable or disable the sidebar, go to the Help menu in SVOffice 2009 and select "Tutor Sidebar". It is enabled by default for new installations.

Future releases of SVOffice 2009 will expand on this feature, adding content based on user feedback.

For more information on this feature, feel free to contact us directly, or download our student version and try it out for yourself!
